I am a freelance journalist based in Southampton,
England. I write regularly for The Guardian’s education supplement
and contribute other pieces on travel and health for the newspaper. In addition,
I have also written for The Times Educational Supplement and the New Statesman.
I have spent time working in education in
both the UK and the USA, having built up many contacts at all levels of
the profession. I continue to write and edit a professionally produced magazine
for a college in Southampton.
I write features for BBC news online websites
and file regular opinion pieces for the US publication Community College
Week. I am also a contributor to People Management and the Health Service
Journal.
I have also written articles for Condé
Nast Traveller and The Independent. I have a strong interest in researching
and writing about North American destinations. Many of my pieces have appeared
in Essentially America magazine.
I have experience in interviewing people for
features, researching specialist subjects and delivering copy to meet tight
deadlines.
I have provided my own photographs for several
of my published travel articles. Some of my pictures appear on this site.
I have a good knowledge of film and music, which has been reflected in some of my travel articles.
